On March 18 we received a delegation from a Japanese environmental NGO, A SEED JAPAN lead by Mr. Kanta Hani. Dr. Augustin Basabose escorted his team from Goma, the capital of North Kivu Province to Bukavu. They came by a boat called Mrs. Rafiki, meaning ‘friend’. Nowadays talented citizens in Bukavu are building big and comfortable boats locally that can carry over 800 people and tons of stuff.
I welcomed them at the Muhanzi Port and brought them to the Orchids Hotel. On the following day, I drove them to the Kahuzi-Biega National Park where they visited the gorillas with success.
The A SEED JAPAN spent the third day to visit the Anga- POPOF school where they donated a lot of school stuff for the students.
