French Ambassador visited Kahuzi-Biega National Park

The French Ambassador to DR Congo, Mr. Pierre Jacquemot who resides in Kinshasa has visited the Park recently. He flew Bukavu and stayed at the Hotel Orchid Safaris for two nights. The Silverback Kingdom Agency took him and his family for a visit to the Cimanuka group that has 37 individuals.

When escorting him, the park rangers made an official welcome and saluted him in a military way. He made a comforting speech to the rangers. The Ambassador said in his speech that he came five times now to visit the gorillas in the KBNP although the country was plunged into the war.

We drove five kilometers along a tea plantation. We got off the vehicle and started walking. It was really a lucky day and we encountered the Cimanuka group just after ten minutes walk! We watched the gorillas for an hour, which is a park rule to minimize the human impact on the gorillas. We observed at least 15 members of gorillas.
One young gorilla of almost four years old was really curious about us. Actually he is always like this and looking for something interesting.

We left the forest and headed back to the headquarters office of Tshivanga and the Ambassador wrote his impressions in the park’s visitors book. We drove back and we paid a visit to the monastery of nuns at Murhesa where nuns prepared foods for the Ambassador and his family. After the lunch, we went to the peak of a hill in Bukavu for taking photos of the panorama of the town.

Public figures of the world are slowly realizing that the peace is returning to the Kahuzi-Biega National Park. A number of such people are now booking the gorilla visit through us.
